Saudi bank deposits down 0.85% in April - SAMA

Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) said that banking deposits declined in April by 0.85% year-on-year.

Deposits totalled SAR 1.598 trillion in April 2017 compared to SAR 1.612 trillion in April 2016, according to SAMA’s monthly report.

Data showed an increase in commercial bank credit by 9.7% in the first quarter of 2017 to SAR 1.406 trillion compared to SAR 1.282 trillion in the first quarter of 2016.

Real estate loans by banks reached SAR 212.5 billion in the first three months of the year compared to SAR 193.7 billion in the same period last year, while real estate loans by finance companies amounted to SAR 13.887 million up from SAR 12.506 million in Q1-16.
