Saudi banking deposits up 1.6% in February – SAMA

Riyadh – Mubasher: The banking deposit registered with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) increased by 1.6% in February 2018 compared to the same month in the prior year.

Banking deposits grew to SAR 1.61 trillion in February 2017 from SAR 1.59 trillion in the same month in 2017.

On a monthly basis, deposits in the Saudi banking segment decreased by 0.5% when compared to SAR 1.62 trillion in January 2018.

Deposits under request increased by 3.6% year-on-year in February, representing 62.6% of the total deposits under request.

Meanwhile, loans registered a slight decline of 0.6% to SAR 1.389 trillion in February compared to SAR 1.396 trillion in the same month in the prior year.

SAMA noted that long-term loans shrank to SAR 434 billion in February 2018 from SAR 455.07 billion in the same month a year ago.
