Saudi car sales to grow on women customers

Riyadh – Mubasher: Car sales in Saudi Arabia are expected to rise by 6% to 10% in the coming period after the GCC nation gave the green light to women driving, chairman of the national committee for cars at the Council of Saudi Chambers, Faisal Abushausha, has said.

Abushausha forecast the kingdom’s auto sales to hit more than 405,000 cars in 2018.

Capitalising on lifting the ban on women driving, which is part of Saudi Vision 2030, the auto showrooms in the biggest Arab economy are providing attractive offers for women during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Saudi women driving will contribute to creating more job opportunities in various sectors, especially in inspection, investigation, security control, and traffic patrol, according to Saudi Gazette.

In January, Saudi Arabia inaugurated the first auto showroom for women in a bid to boost the cars sector.
