Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi cement firms tend to reduce the number of employees and some production lines by about 12% to increase the quality of products, chairman of Saudi National Committee for Cement Companies of the Council of Saudi Chambers said.
Jehad Al Rasheed told Al Jazirah newspaper on Monday that the cement market became stuffed by supply glut, so companies tend to reconsider their production operations.
KSA cement companies sold 4.09 million tonnes of cement in February down from 5.44 million tonnes for the year-ago period, according to the report released by Yamama Cement Co.
The country’s cement inventory increased to 1.07 million tonnes in February, up 18.2% year-on-year from 906,000 tonnes.
