Saudi environment ministry, ADF pen MoU to raise livestock production capacity

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) to increase livestock production capacity and enhance local production of red meat.

The MoU further aims to encourage livestock breeders to adopt modern standard breeding methods instead of traditional methods while raising their income in a bid to enhance food security in line with the national plan programmes to improve the production of the livestock sector, according to a statement on Monday.

The signing comes as part of the environment ministry’s goals to develop the sector and ensure its sustainability while boosting investments.

Moreover, the deal will facilitate the lending procedures to livestock breeders, qualify applicants for loans while granting them necessary licences.

In addition, comprehensive programmes and databases will be created to carry out all transactions, statistical and production data, tracking, and electronic linkage, the statement added.
