Saudi exports fall 8.7% in May - GaStat

Riyadh – Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s exports decreased by 8.7% year-on-year in May, according to the latest data by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat).

Exports of Saudi Arabia reached SAR 88.05 billion in May, compared to SAR 96.39 billion in May 2018.

The drop in exports was driven by the decline in oil export by 5.3%, or SAR 3.97 billion, in May.

Petroleum exports from the kingdom went down to SAR 70.43 billion in May, from SAR 74.4 billion in the same period a year ago, data showed.

As for non-petroleum exports, they retreated by 19.9% year-on-year to SAR 17.62 billion by the end of May.

On a monthly basis, Saudi exports inched up 1.2% in May, from SAR 86.97 billion in April.

China topped the list with total imports from Saudi Arabia valued at SAR 2.91 billion, followed by the UAE with SAR 2.21 billion.
