Saudi firm wins Bahrain’s $30m Muharraq hospital contract

Mubasher: The Saudi company Saleh Abdullah Al Mahana was awarded a contract to build a long-term care centre for a new hospital in Muharraq, Bahrain, as reported by Construction Week Online.

The centre will include 100 beds for long-term patients, an emergency waiting area, a brain paralysis wing, x-ray rooms, laboratory, a pharmacy, a physiotherapy unit, offices, and a building for non-medical services, Construction Week Online added.

Phase 1 of the centre is expected to cost $30 million (BHD11.6m), with construction works to start in the third quarter of 2018, and is expected to last for approximately two years, according to the Bahrain News Agency.

“The project is being financed by the Saudi Fund for Development, following a 2014 agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” according to Construction Week Online.

Bahrain’s under-development Muharraq medical complex features three main projects.

Building the hospital in one of the biggest cities in Bahrain is part of the government’s Vision 2030 strategy.
