Saudi foreign assets abroad increase 2.5% in August

Mubasher: The foreign reserves of Saudi Arabia abroad grew by 2.5% or SAR 82.7 billion ($22 billion) in August 2018 compared to the same month a year ago.

Foreign assets increased to SAR 1.91 trillion ($510 billion) in August 2018 from SAR 1.83 trillion ($488 billion) in the same month in 2017.

On a monthly basis, Saudi Arabia’s foreign assets enlarged by 1.7% or SAR 31.6 billion when compared to SAR 1.88 trillion in July 2018.

Securities investments shrank by 4.7% to SAR 1.18 trillion in August compared to SAR 1.24 trillion in August 2017. Securities represent 61.8% of Saudi Arabia’s total assets abroad.

Foreign cash and deposits totalled SAR 692.02 billion in August 2018 compared to SAR 549.7 billion in the same month last year.

Saudi reserves in the IMF stood at SAR 5.98 billion.
