Riyadh – Mubasher: The remittances of foreign labour working in Saudi Arabia increased 9.6% in July 2017, compared to July 2016, according to a report by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).
The foreign labour’s remittances amounted to SAR 11.3 billion in July 2017 versus SAR 10.3 billion in the year-ago period, the report added.
The remittances increased 9% to SAR 10.4 billion month-on-month. They reached SAR 34.9 billion in the second quarter of 2017, compared to SAR 40.3 billion in Q2-16.
On the other hand, Saudi national’s transfers reached SAR 6.7 billion in May, compared to SAR 3.4 billion in July 2016.
Starting from July 2017, the Saudi General Directorate of Passports collects SAR 100 a month for every person accompanying foreign workers, which will increase annually.
