Saudi general reserves drop 17% in December – SAMA

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s general reserves tumbled 16.9% year-on-year to SAR 489.54 billion in December, from SAR 589.19 billion, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) said.

The kingdom’s general reserves fell last month from SAR 561.4 billion in November 2018, the Saudi central bank noted.

Saudi Arabia’s current account jumped 39.5% to SAR 72.83 billion last December, up from SAR 52.19 billion in the corresponding month a year earlier and SAR 63.15 billion in November 2018, SAMA added.

The GCC nation’s general reserves include budget’s surplus and the current account.
