Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture signed a cooperation agreement with the National Aquaculture Group (NAQUA) and Aquaculture Sharq Farms Company to utilise the Red Sea water in agricultural production and benefit from the experiments of new agriculture technologies.
The collaboration aims to support the agricultural food production industry, which is part of the ministry’s development plan, while contributing to the achievement of food security, according to a statement on Monday.
The ministry said it was crucial to find nontraditional and innovative solutions to overcome the challenges facing the vital agricultural sector, such as water, in a way that guarantees productive and environmental sustainability.
Initial experiments carried out on the use the Aquaponics and Hydroponics technologies in the kingdom were successful, the ministry noted.
