Saudi imports fall 8% YoY in November – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi merchandise imports tumbled 8.2% or SAR 3.48 billion during November 2017, compared to the same month in the prior year, data by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) revealed on Sunday.

The Kingdom’s imports declined to SAR 38.84 billion in November 2017, from SAR 42.32 billion on the same period a year earlier, the GASTAT’s report added.

The decrease in the kingdom’s imports was attributed to a 17.9% or SAR 1.97 billion drop in the value of machinery appliances and electrical equipment imports, to SAR 9.06 billion during November 2017, down from SAR 11.03 billion in the prior-year period.

Month-on-month, the value of Saudi imports fell 11.5% or SAR 5.04 billion during November, compared to the previous month.
