Saudi inflation rises 2% YoY in September – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Consumer Price Index (CPI), known as inflation, increased by 2.1% year-on-year during September, the General Authority for Statistics’ (GASTAT) said in a report.

The Kingdom’s CPI rose due to a growth in transport section with 11%, tobacco section with 10%, restaurants and hotel section with 8.4%, and food and beverages with 6.7%, the GASTAT’s report added.

On the other hand, prices dropped in clothing and footwear section with 6.5%, followed by a 3.2% decrease in prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels section.

Month-on-month, the GCC nation’s inflation inched down 0.2% to 107.1 points last month, from 107.3 points in August.

The monthly decline occurred due to a 0.8% decrease in recreation and culture section, and with the same rate in housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels section.

On the other hand, education section levelled up 0.7%, while food and beverages section increased by 0.5%.

On a monthly basis, tobacco, health, and transport sections remained unchanged.
