Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's consumer price index (inflation) increased 2.9% year-on-year during February 2018, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said.
About 10 sections rose in February on annual basis, whereas two sections levelled down, the state-run entity showed.
Prices in tobacco section surged 54.5% after putting the selective tax into effect, followed by transport segment with 10.1%, and restaurants and hotels with 6.8%, the GASTAT added.
On the other hand, the prices of clothing and footwear tumbled 8%, while recreation and culture prices inched down 0.4%.
The oil-rich kingdom’s inflation edged up 0.1% in the second month of 2018, compared to January 2018.
The GASTAT attributed the monthly growth to a rise in four sections, whereas another four sections fell.
The restaurants and hotels sector grew 0.5%, whereas miscellaneous goods and services dropped 0.2%.
