Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Consumer Price Index (Inflation) increased 3% year-on-year during the first month of the year.
Tobacco prices surged 54.5% after putting the selective tax on tobacco into effect, followed by transport with 10.5%, and food and beverages with 6.7%, data by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) revealed on Sunday.
Month-on-month, Saudi inflation rose 3.9% in January compared to a month earlier.
The oil-rich kingdom’s inflation hit 108 points in January, compared to 103.9 points in the previous month.
