Saudi merchandise exports rise 17.5% in Q1 – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's merchandise exports levelled up 17.5% during the first three months of 2018, compared to the year-ago period.

The kingdom’s merchandise exports amounted to SAR 243.71 billion in Q1-18, up from SAR 207.37 billion during Q1-17, General Authority for Statistics’ (GASATAT) data showed.

On a quarterly basis, the GCC nation's merchandise exports increased by SAR 5.22 billion or 2.2%, compared to Q4-17. Saudi exports consist of oil and non-oil exports.

The kingdom’s oil exports went up SAR 25.66 billion, or 15.9%, to SAR 187.53 billion during Q1-18, from SAR 161.87 billion in the three-month period a year ago. The Arab nation's first-quarter oil exports rose SAR 4.78 billion, or 2.6%, compared to Q4-17.

The value of non-oil exports jumped 23.5% or SAR 10.68 billion, registering SAR 56.18 billion during Q1-18, compared to SAR 45.5 billion in Q1-17.

On a quarterly basis, Saudi non-oil exports edged up SAR 445 million or 0.8%.
