Saudi merchandise exports surge 35% YoY in August – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s merchandise exports rose 35.1% year-on-year during August, or by SAR 23.89 billion ($6.37 billion), General Authority for Statistics’ (GASTAT) report revealed.

The Kingdom’s merchandise exports, which oil and non-oil exports, amounted to SAR 92.01 billion in August, up from SAR 68.12 billion in the corresponding month last year, the GASTAT’s report added.

Oil exports jumped SAR 25.05 billion, or 49.8%, to SAR 75.4 billion during August, compared to SAR 50.3 billion in August 2017.

Year-on-year, the GCC nation’s non-oil exports decreased by SAR 1.15 billion, or 6.5%, reaching SAR 16.66 billion last August, compared to SAR 17.81 billion.

On a monthly basis, the value of Saudi merchandise exports fell SAR 4.95 billion, or 5.1%.

Month-on-month, oil exports tumbled SAR 1.79 billion, or 2.3% in August, while non-oil exports declined by SAR 3.16 billion, or 16%.
