Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports decreased by 22.8% year-on-year, or SAR 9.94 billion ($265 billion), to 33.6 billion ($8.96 billion) in August, compared to SAR 43.54 billion ($11.61 billion), the General Authority for Statistics (GASATAT) said on Wednesday.
The Kingdom attributed August decline to a drop in electrical machinery and equipment imports, registering SAR 6.7 billion in August, down from SAR 10.4 billion in the same month last year, the GASTAT added.
Year-on-year, the GCC nation trimmed imports of transportation equipment and its parts to SAR 4.6 billion in August, compared to SAR 7.6 billion.
On a monthly basis, the oil-rich country’s imports declined SAR 8.69 billion, or 20.5%, last August.
