Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's merchandise imports declined by SAR 6.26 billion ($1.67 billion), or 15.1%, year-on-year in February, according to data released by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) on Sunday.
The kingdom’s merchandise imports dipped to SAR 35.31 billion in February, compared to SAR 41.56 billion in the same month a year earlier, the state-run statistics agency said.
On a monthly basis, Saudi Arabia’s merchandise imports shrank by SAR 6.61 billion, or 15.8%, from January.
Machinery and electrical equipment topped Saudi merchandise imports with a value of SAR 7.15 billion in February, registering a 15.5% drop from SAR 8.43 billion in the same month a year earlier.
China ranked first among countries exporting to Saudi Arabia with SAR 6.85 billion in the second month of 2019, followed by the US and the UAE with SAR 5 billion and SAR 2.9 billion, respectively.
