Saudi oil exports to China rise to 1m bpd in May

Riyadh – Mubasher: Oil exports from Saudi Arabia to China increased in the first five months of 2017 by around 8.6% year-on-year to 1.0 million barrels per day (bpd), data released by the Chinese government on Monday showed.

This rise in exports has made the Kingdom the third top crude oil supplier to China, the world second largest crude importer after the US, according to China’s General Administration of Customs.

Russia continues to be China’s top oil supplier with shipments rise 9.4% on the year to 1.36 million bpd in May, followed by Angola with 1.32 million bpd, up 79.2% year-on-year.

The Sultanate of Oman and Iran ranked fourth and fifth top oil suppliers to China, respectively.

China’s overall crude imports of crude oil rose 15.4% in May to 8.8 million bpd compared to figures from the same period in 2016, the data showed.
