Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi ports continued to make progress in the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (LSCI) according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) report for the third-quarter (Q3) of 2020.
The kingdom’s ports improved by 24.6% or 13.8 points, the highest region-wide, to reach 70.14 points since Q1-19 until Q3-20, Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) said in a statement on Wednesday.
This comes as part of Mawani’s strategic objectives and ambitious initiatives to achieve regional leadership and help convert the kingdom into a global logistic hub while upgrading the ports’ sector in line with the National Vision 2030 goals, represented in the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP).
The Gulf country registered 56.3 points in Q1-19 and an average of 62.4 points in 2019. In the second quarter of this year, the state had 68.46 points.
