Saudi real estate developers to set up green building designs

Riyadh – Mubasher: Green building designs in Saudi Arabia will boost objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, informed sources said on the sidelines of the Big 5 Saudi Show.

The 8th edition of Saudi Arabia's premier construction event will be held on 5-8 March to discuss the latest updates of the green building movement in the oil-rich kingdom, according to ConstructionWeek Online.

The implementation of green building designs at residential projects is beneficial to all participants from the environmental, social and economic perspective, US Green Building Council faculty regional manager’s Mohammed Al Surf stated.

“Owners benefit by reducing the cost of running the building, the occupants will feel healthier, and the community will benefit from engaging together,” Al Surf added.

In the same vein, Saudi Arabia’s private sector has become mindful of the dire need to carry out sustainable building designs in the projects, TradeNews Arabia reported, citing Dina Al Nahd, CEO and partner in Entec Environmental Technology, as saying.

"There are over 3,300 urban projects underway, representing 70% of all Saudi construction. [Moreover,] There are [...] 4,700 construction projects active in the kingdom today,” Al Nahd concluded.
