Cairo – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s supermarket and hypermarket operator Panda won a tender for a 9,061 sqm land plot in Egypt’s El-Obour City, on which it will build new supermarket chain, said Egypt’s Minister of Supply Khaled Hanafy.
Earlier, the company won tenders for two land areas in Nasr City and Kalyoubia Governorate.
The Saudi retailer will complete the building of the new supermarkets chain in three months, according to the minister.
Hanafy also said Panda signed an agreement to upgrade 64 state-owned groceries and provide training for their staff.
Owned by Saudi Savola Group, Panda operates via more than 470 supermarkets across Saudi Arabia and the UAE. It also opened its first branch in Egypt’s Six of October City late last year.
