Riyadh – Mubasher: Industrial Valley (IV) in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) announced the beginning of trial operation of the integrated logistical centre that is implemented by one of the leading distribution companies in the kingdom.
The centre has more than 110,000 order capacity to store medical and food products using state-of-the-art technologies in line with modern international standards, state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.
The company has already received and stored shipments and will distribute them to the local market.
Spanning 97,000 square metres, the new centre is one of the largest regionally and consists of 50-metre long shelves that can automatically store and arrange goods. In addition, it comprises 56 gates to receive all kinds of vehicle and parking spaces that can absorb 180 vehicles at the same time.
The logistical centre offers its services to local and global companies. A strategic partnership was concluded with the National Unified Procurement Company for Medical Supplies (NUPCO) to store and distribute medicines and to store food products of international firms in the Industrial Valley in KAEC.
For his part, secretary-general of the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority, Mohanud Helal, said the opening of the centre will remarkably drive the kingdom's logistical and industrial sectors, elevating the kingdom’s position as a global logistical centre in tandem with the National Vision 2030.
