Saudi trade surplus grows 82% in January – GaStat

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia's trade surplus registered an increase of 82.4% in January 2018 compared to the same month in 2017.

The Kingdom’s trade surplus grew to SAR 44.65 billion ($11.9 billion) in the first month of 2018, up from SAR 24.49 billion ($6.5 billion) in January 2017, according to a recent report by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat).

Saudi Arabia’s total exports stood at SAR 83.74 billion, while imports totalled SAR 39.09 billion, the state-run entity said. 

Saudi-goods exports registered a value of SAR 83.74 billion in January 2018 compared to SAR 69.5 billion in the same month a year ago.

Petroleum exports increased by 21% to SAR 66.53 billion in January 2018 from SAR 54.92 billion in the same month a year ago, GaStat’s report said.

The Kingdom’s non-petroleum exports grew by 18% to SAR 172.11 billion in January 2018 from SAR 145.85 billion in the same month in the previous year.
