Saudi trade surplus with GCC hits SAR 1.2bn in January

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia achieved a surplus of SAR 1.12 billion in the non-oil trade with the GCC in January 2018, compared to a deficit worth SAR 522 million in the same month a year earlier.

The kingdom’s non-oil exports to the GCC increased 10.3% to SAR 3.93 billion in the first month of 2018, up from SAR 3.57 billion in the same month in the prior year, the Saudi General Authority for Statistics’ (GASTAT) data revealed.

On the other hand, Saudi imports from the GCC slid 31.2% to SAR 2.81 billion in January 2018 versus SAR 4.09 billion in the first month of 2016, the state-run entity reported.

Saudi Arabia’s total exports to UAE, its largest trade partner, amounted to SAR 2.54 billion in January, while its imports from the GCC peer reached SAR 2.14 billion, the data found.
