Saudi wholesale price index hikes 16% in 2018 – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Wholesale Price Index jumped 16% for the whole year of 2018, reaching 116.8 points, compared to 100.7 points in 2017, the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) reported.

The growth was attributed to the introduction of the value-added tax (VAT), in addition to adjusting the prices of oil derivatives as of January 2018, the state-run statistics agency added.

The kingdom’s wholesale price index levelled up 15.7% year-on-year in December, while it remained unchanged month-on-month.
