Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudization of wholesale and retail operations in nine economic activities by 70% will start on Thursday, 20 August, as per the ministerial decision issued in March 2020.
The decision includes nationalising activities related to the selling of coffee, tea, spices, water, beverages, vegetables, fruits, dates, flowers, plants, seeds, agricultural material, books, stationery, students’ services, gifts, handmade and antique crafts, toys, meat fridges, fresh and frozen fish, dairy products, vegetable oils, car accessories, detergents, plastics, and soaps.
On Wednesday, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, Abdulrahman Al Hussein, said all retail activities will be obliged to provide electronic payment (e-payment) systems starting from Tuesday, 25 August 2020.
In July 2019, the National Program for Combating the Commercial Concealment announced that all selling outlets will be gradually mandated to use the e-payment means in their trade activities, before the decision is fully implemented on all trade activities on 25 August.
