Cairo – Mubasher: Schneider Electric Egypt on Thursday opened a 5 megawatts (MWs) solar power plant in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh.
The project was developed by INTRO Solar Company in collaboration with Gila AlTawakol Electric, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
The new plant will add 10 gigawatts (GWs) per hour energy to the Egyptian national electricity network, which is enough to supply over 2,000 residential units, Schneider Electric Egypt’s vice president Sherif Abdel Fattah stated.
The company will launch a group of projects in Egypt, including a 20 MWs solar power plant in Aswan, with total investments of EUR 4.8 million (EGP 91.8 million).
Schneider Electric invested EUR 300 million in Egypt in 25 years, including EUR 35 million the last two years, regional president of North East Africa and Levant Countries at Schneider Electric, Walid Sheta, revealed.
