Schneider Electric to upgrade wastewater plants in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's housing ministry will cooperate with Schneider Electric to develop wastewater and sewage treatment plants, minister Mostafa Madbouli said in a statement on Thursday.

Holding Co. for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) will collaborate with the France-based company to select a treatment plant in the North African nation for development as a model to boost its efficiency, and cut power consumption, Madbouli added.

Schneider Electric is also keen on participating in the housing ministry's undergoing water desalination projects, managing director of Schneider Electric MENA Waleed Shata said.

Schneider Electric has conducted a study on partnering with the private sector of the Arab world's most populous country on executing seawater desalination project, Shata noted, adding that this study will be discussed with the government's top officials.

The company, which specializes in electricity distribution, automation management and produces installation components for energy management, is able to operate wastewater treatment plants with solar power, he highlighted.
