Serco Middle East wins contract to offer air navigation services at Sharjah Airport

UAE - Mubasher: Serco Middle East won a five-year contract to provide air navigation services at Sharjah Airport, according to a press release on Thursday.

In a tender launched earlier this year, Sharjah's Department of Civil Aviation has awarded Serco Middle East, which provides management and operational services for airports and air traffic control globally, with the contract.

Through the contract effective until 28 February 2025, the company will raise the number of Emirati workers at Sharjah Airport to 47%, while ensuring operational efficiency and continuity of services.

Hence, the company will improve the services at Sharjah Airport, in accordance with the latest technologies and international standards.

The Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah, Sheikh Khalid Isam Al Qassimi, said: "Our collaboration with Serco will ensure smooth aircraft movements as well as full compliance to matters of safety at the airport, especially during aircraft landing and takeoff."

Meanwhile, the CEO of Serco Middle East, Phil Malem, commented: "The Sharjah DCA and Serco have worked collaboratively for over 70 years to deliver best-in-class air navigation services (ANS) to Sharjah International Airport, and it’s been a privilege to support the airport as it grows."
