Seven Tides installs 6 Tesla chargers in Dubai

Dubai – Mubasher: Seven Tides announced installing six Tesla Destination Charging connectors at Anantara (Palm Dubai Resort), Dukes Dubai (Palm Jumeirah), and Mövenpick Hotel (Ibn Battuta Gate).

The stations add up to 90 kilometres per hour to the battery and have an average charge time between three to four hours, depending on the battery level, according to a statement on Sunday.

Tesla vehicles will enter the UAE market this summer, according to Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk, with service centres being set up in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The chargers will help reach the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to make Dubai a global centre of clean energy and a more sustainable economy by providing 7% of the emirate’s total energy output from clean resources by 2020, 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050.

Last year, it was announced that up to 10% of new vehicles purchased by government bodies with huge transportation fleets will be electric and hybrid cars. The move is part of the Dubai Green Mobility Initiative, with 100 charging stations already installed across the emirate since 2015.
