Several countries condemn Hilwan attacks

Cairo – Mubasher: Several European and Arabian counties condemned the terrorist attacks on a Coptic church in Hilwan, which killed around 11 people.

Netherlands’ embassy on Friday condemned the terrorist attack, expressing its solidarity with the Egyptian people, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).

“The Egyptian interior ministry stated that a gunman had killed at least 11 people on Friday in attacks on a Coptic Orthodox church and a Christian-owned shop near Cairo before he was wounded and arrested,” Reuters reported.

The so-called Islamic State claimed its responsibility for the attacks, however there is no evidence to back that claim, the international news agency added.

The Interior Ministry said that it had identified the gunman, adding that he had carried out several attacks since last year.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi described the terrorist attack as a desperate attempt, which would not compromise Egyptians will or unity.
