Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Sharjah International Airport handled 10.039 million passengers in 2015, a rise of 5.5% from 9.5 million in 2014, according to a recent statement.
The number of landings and take-offs rose 1.23% to 71,426 in 2015 compared to 70,559 a year earlier.
The airport also saw 240,000 tonnes of freight and 19,000 tonnes of Sea-Air Cargo, the statement said.
August 2015 saw the busiest month when it received 928,897 passengers, compared to a growth rate 17.80%.
August and December were the busiest for landings and takeoffs, with a record 6,334, while the highest growth was in September by 10%.
