Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Sharjah ranked fifth among the cheapest holiday destinations in the world.
Sharjah was competing against 100 cities offering affordable five-star hotel rooms and was outranked by Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, Kuala Lumpur, and Sofia, according to a report made by skyscanner.ae.
The emirate’s average price for a five-star accommodation has reached AED 497 per night, while the cost of a similar room in Sharm El Sheikh would be AED 389 per night, the report showed.
"From our data, it’s clear that deals can be found at five-star hotels in many sought-after destinations, in fact, there are five-star room rates in Sharm El Sheikh from just AED122 per night on our site now," senior growth manager at Skyscanner.ae Sam Ayles said.
Sharjah is investing in its tourism sector while planning to inject AED 1.5 billion ($410 million) into Sharjah International Airport’s expansion in a bid to increase its capacity to 20 million passengers by 2027.
