Sharjah’s business licences grow 4% in H1-19

UAE – Mubasher: The number of issued or renewed business licences in the UAE’s Emirate of Sharjah increased by 4% to 31,190 during the first six months of 2019.

Issued licences went up by 15% to 2,740, while renewed licences rose by 3% to reach 28,450, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

“Commercial licences in Sharjah came first with 20,009 during the first half of 2019…followed by 9,722 professional licences and 1,121 Eitimad licences,” WAM reported, citing data released by the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD).  

As for the nationalities of licensees, UAE nationals came in top with 14,511 licences, while Indians, Bangladeshis, and Pakistanis held 8,789, 5,422, and 4,685 licenses, respectively.

For the GCC, Saudi Arabians led the list with 185 licenses, as the number of licenses held by Kuwaitis, Omanis, and Bahrainis combined reached 263.
