Cairo – Mubasher: Royal Dutch Shell is planning to start gas output at the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Phase 9b project in the third quarter of 2018, with a production capacity of 100 million cubic feet per day (mcfpd).

Upon the project, two wells of Phase 9A will be linked with Phase 9B in Q3-18 and Q4-18, a source at state-run Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. (EGAS) told local newspaper Youm7.

Another well will be linked to the project in Q1-19, the source added.

The second phase of the project includes linking five wells in Q3-19 and Q4-19, the source noted.

Phase 9B has eight production wells and an exploratory well, which will be executed according to the results of the one that is being drilled.

Netherland-based Shell had already begun drilling the first exploratory well named “Safir South East 1” on 20 April 2018.
