Siemens completes two substations in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: German-based engineering group Siemens has completed the construction of two substations in Sebennytos and Abu El Matamir districts in Egypt with an electric voltage of 500/220 kilovolt in collaboration of the Egyptian electricity ministry.

The turn-key project is one of the largest substations in Egypt, CEO of Siemens in Egypt said.

The two substations were built to transfer power from the Burullus power plant in Kafr El Sheikh, the biggest gas power plant in the world, Emad Ghaly added.

The German industrial conglomerate was in charge of designing, constructing, supplying, installing, and operating the two substations, he noted.

The investments of the project was not revealed. 

This came on the sidelines of a meeting between Egyptian electricity minister Mohamed Shaker and CEO of Siemens Egypt Emad Ghaly.
