Siemens wins $229m contract of power, water project in Oman

Mubasher: Siemens has awarded one of its biggest contracts in Oman worth EUR 200 million ($229 million).

Under the deal, the German conglomerate company headquartered in Berlin will supply Oman’s Duqm Integrated Power and Water project (DIPWP) with gas and steam turbines, long-term power generation services and digital solutions.

The service contract, which runs for 25 years, is considered one of Siemens’ longest contracts in the oil and gas sector globally, according to the company’s recent statement.

The project and its associated desalination facility, which is located in the Duqm Special Economic Zone in Al Wusta, is being developed by Duqm Power Company, a joint venture between Oman Oil Company and Gulf Energy of Thailand.

Siemens will also supply a combined cycle power plant consisting of five SGT-800 industrial gas turbines, five SST-300 industrial steam turbines, and the corresponding control system, the statement showed.

Moreover, it will provide cybersecurity solutions in order to improve asset visibility, reliability and security, while decreasing operation and maintenance costs.

The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
