Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai Customs on Sunday announced that the Smart Refund initiative achieved an increase in customs transactions, in line with the growth in Dubai foreign trade.
The number of customs transactions rose to 702,000 in the first nine months of 2017, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Dubai’s foreign trade registered a 13% increase to AED 344 billion in the third quarter of 2017, compared to AED 305 billion in the comparative period last year, said Dubai Customs director Ahmed Mahboob Musabih.
Re-exporting accounted for a big portion of this growth, going up 34% year-on-year to AED 103 billion in Q3-17, Musabih added.
Smart Refund system is relying on artificial intelligence and supporting the smart system created and developed by Dubai Customs, the top official concluded.
