Cairo – Mubasher: Suez Canal traffic online data revealed that the Suez Canal gained a total EGP6.3 billion ($707.7 million) in January and February.
Around EGP3.2 billion revenues were collected for January 2016 compared with EGP3.1 billion for the year-ago month, while February's revenues reached EGP3.1 billion against EGP2.9 billion for February 2015, according to Suez Canal online data.
Earlier, Mohab Mamish, the chairman of the canal, said the authority’s revenues for February 2015 increased 5.1%,or $19.4 million, year-over-year to $401.4 million (EGP3.09 billion) from $381.9 million.
The number of transiting ships in February also rose 6.6% year-over-year to 1300 ships from 1219 ships.
