Suez Canal revenues fell to $459.8m in September

Cairo - Mubasher: Suez Canal revenues fell 2.2% month-on-month in September 2017, according to official data.

Revenues amounted to $459.8 million in September 2017, versus $470.6 million in August 2017, the data showed.

Head of the economic unit at the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said that the canal’s revenues rose 3.4% year-on-year during the period from January to October 2017.

The SCA had previously stated that 2017 witnessed the recovery of world trade passing through the Suez Canal, as net revenues went up 3% or $62.2 million to $2.167 billion between March 2017 and July 2017 from $2.105 billion in the corresponding period in 2016.

The targeted revenues from the SCA total EGP 66.1 billion ($3.6 billion), according to the statement of the general budget for fiscal year 2017/2018.
