Cairo – Mubasher: Suez Canal revenues increased 2.2% in the period between January and September 2017 to reach $3.869 billion, compared to $3.783 billion in the year-ago period, the chairman of Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohab Mameesh said.
The returns soared 114.4% reaching EGP 68.912 billion, compared to EGP 32.137 billion, Mameesh stated on the sidelines of signing contract with the Dutch firm Royal IHC for designing and constructing two custom-built heavy-duty rock cutter suction dredgers (CSDs).
Year-on-year, the number of ships increased 2.5% to 12,900 ships from 12,600 ships.
The cargoes of ships went up 4.6% to reach 765 million tonnes during the first nine months ended on September 2017, compared to 731 million tonnes in the corresponding period in the year earlier.
