Suez Canal revenues likely to hit $5.6 in FY17/18 - Minister

Cairo – Mubasher: Suez Canal revenues are likely to rise 14% year-on-year to $5.6 billion by the end of fiscal year 2017/2018, finance minister Amr El Garhy said.

El Garhy added that the canal’s revenues grew to $5.1 billion during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, state-run news agency MENA reported.

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) had previously posted that Suez Canal generated revenues of $4.95 billion in FY16/17.

The canal had reported a 5.4% increase in revenues in 2017, recording $5.3 billion.
