Cairo - Mubasher: Revenues of Suez Canal increased by 3.4% year-on-year during the period from January to October 2017, said the head of the economic unit in the Suez Canal Authority.
Sayed Abou Elfettouh said on Sunday that the canal’s income in the first ten month of the year amounted to $4.345 billion, compared to nearly $4.202 billion for the same period in 2016, with a rise of $143 million.
In October, the canal revenues declined by 7% in October, registering $418.1 million, compared to nearly $449.2 million.
Abou Elfettouh attributed the decrease to the slowdown in international trade, fuel prices, and global economic growth rates in 2016, noting that there have been signs of recovery in the first quarter of 2017, which was positively reflected on the canal.
