Cairo – Mubasher: Wheat purchases from local farmers reached around 5 million tonnes since the beginning of the harvest season for 2016, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Khaled Hanafi has said, according to a statement.
Local wheat received from farmers this year is higher than the government's target by 25%, the minister added, noting that the target was around 4 million tonnes in 2016.
Wheat supply from farmers reached 5.3 million tonnes in 2015 and 3.7 million tonnes in 2014, according to data released by the Ministry of Supply.
