Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s minister of housing Assem El-Gazzar, Aswan governor Ahmed Ibrahim, and Swiss ambassador to Egypt Paul Garnier have signed an agreement to provide pure drinking water to more than 2 million people in Upper Egypt over eight years.
Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation will grant Egypt a $17 million finance to implement the project over several phases from 2019 to 2027, El-Gazzar said in a statement on Tuesday.
The first phase includes establishing a water and sewage company in Aswan from 2019 to 2021 to serve about 621,000 people, the minister added.
