Switzerland invests EGP 11.5bn in over 200 projects in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: Switzerland has invested CHF 700 million (EGP 11.5 billion) in more than 200 projects in Egypt, head of economic cooperation and development at the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) Raymund Furrer said.

Swiss projects in Egypt played a key role in strengthening the country’s infrastructure and developing the private sector, Furrer added in a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation on Thursday.

Total Swiss investments in the most populous Arab nation reached $1.85 billion in energy, industry, pharmaceuticals, financial services, and food industries sectors, the minister of investment Sahar Nasr said.

Egypt works on fostering cooperation with Switzerland through the debt-for-development swap programme with a special focus on developing the neediest governorates, Nasr added.
