Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange’s (ADX) general index grew 11 points, or 0.23%, to close at 4,693.47 points on Monday, pushed up by the energy and telecommunication sectors.

The ADX’s trading volume surged to 95.32 million shares from 42.64 million on Sunday, while the market’s liquidity soared to AED 193.51 million versus AED 69 million in the previous session.

TAQA, which skyrocketed 14.63% to AED 1.41, its highest level in four years, led the market in terms of both trading volume and value, with 48.7 million traded shares and a turnover of AED 65 million.

The ADX today saw a one-horse race, as energy stocks, especially TAQA, attracted the attention of most investors, senior financial analyst at Mena Corp Issam Kassabieh said.

Recently, the ADX has been enjoying stability in all sectors save energy and banks, Kassabieh added.

The telecommunication sector and its only stock, Etisalat, increased by 0.87% each.

The banks sector inched up 0.03%, as Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) added 1.14%.

On the other hand, the real estate sector lost 0.13% after RAK Properties levelled down 1.49%.
