TASI closes at 7-week high; Nomu drops to record low

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) ended the week on a positive note, registering its second straight weekly gains.

The benchmark Tadawul All Shares Index (TASI) grew 1.06% or 73.9 points this week, closing at 7,075.57 points, its highest level in seven weeks or since 17 February 2017.

Turnover on the main market grew 5.6% to SAR 15.1 billion this week from SAR 14.3 billion last week, while traded volume increased to 684.3 million shares compared to 659.1 million the week before.

On the other hand, the Nomu parallel market closed the week at all-time low of 4,961.2 points, after dropping 3.09% or 158 points.

Turnover on Nomu plunged to SAR 34.3 million this week, its lowest since its launch in February, against SAR 96.2 million last week. Similarly, traded volume dropped to 1.8 million shares versus 4.1 million shares last week.

Market capitalisation increased by SAR 25 billion this week to SAR 1.663 trillion from SAR 1.638 trillion last week.

As for Tadawul's sectors, basic materials and telecommunications gained 1.4% and 3.23%, whereas banks fell 0.33%.

Nadec's stock topped risers, surging 19.88% during the week to SAR 33.95, whereas Southern Cement was the biggest loser, falling 8.5% to SAR 57.37.

Alinma was the most active in terms of traded volume with 115.2 million shares traded across the week, while SABIC was the value leader with a turnover of SAR 1.898 billion.
